Ogoh Ogoh parade and street party the day before Bali’s day of silence. Nyepi is my favourite annual Balinese holiday. A day for inner reflection. No lights, no traffic, no work.

Community minded, ocean loving CSC boys get together with support from Sea Sentosa to give back by organizing beach cleanups every other Sunday! Cleanup locations vary each time starting at 4pm and usually end in a surf if the waves are good. Check CSC or Sea Sentosa facebook pages for updates if you want to join in next time!

The CSC boys in Canggu just launched their website! This is a community of surfers in Canggu who organize local surf competitions with a new 4 part surf series starting this year in addition to their annual August comp, but surfing is not the only thing on their agenda. These guys also actively participate in serving the community such as organizing beach clean ups every other Sunday afternoon. They help promote safety and a good attitude at the beach and in the water.

“As a group we shall reduce our community’s carbon eco-footprint. In order to contribute towards a global solutions, we will create events that will fund beneficial rewards to the community,” Make a Change Bali who organized a Valentine’s Day cleanup at Batu Belig with a great turnout from the community. Also Superman is Dead band and friends came out along with Drifter Surf and Desa Seni crew. Eco-Bali was there to assist in removal of trash and recyclables.

This year’s Valentine’s Day was a perfect day to show some beach and ocean love. And we’ve got to spread the love around…

Just up the road from Echo Beach is the brand new Deus ”Temple of Enthusiasm” in Canggu complete with bengkel, studios, gallery, retail space, and cafe…

This place is like heaven for the bike enthusiast and they make cool surfboards too.

After the Good Vibrations retro surf comp put on by Drifter Surf Shop and friends out front of Sea Sentosa, everyone cruised over to Deus for their official opening party. Friends and neighbors packed the joint, toasts cheered, musos jammed, and everyone stumbled home happy and looking forward to more good times at the Temple…

Everyone in Canggu seems to flock to The Beach House at Echo Beach for the nightly BBQs and live music. This place gets packed on Sundays! Just be prepared to wait for your food on really busy nights, but their margaritas are a great way to pass the time…

 It’s a nice walk along the beach from Seminyak, a scooter ride thru the rice fields, or a short drive by car to the bustling little beachside restaurants, shops, and some of the best waves in the world are right out front, making Echo Beach a popular place to come for surfers and families from around the world.

If you’ve ventured out to Echo Beach recently, you would have seen the beginnings of Sea Sentosa, luxury beachfront apartments set in a 5-star integrated resort. Completion date is set for December 2012 when our Echo Beach community will also find itself with a carefully selected best of what Bali has to offer in shopping and dining.

These are exciting times in the neighborhood!
